If I'm following you correctly couldn't you add your friend's repayment as a negative expense using the same category and subcategory as the original expense?

e.g. I buy groceries for me and Jane which cost €100. I pay with my N26 debit card. Jane generously gives me €100 in cash.

    Transaction 1: Expense
    Account: N26
    Amount: €100
    Category: Food
    Sub-Category: Groceries
    Payee: Aldi

    Transaction 2: Expense
    Account: Wallet
Amount: -€100 (note the negative sign)
    Category: Food
    Sub-Category: Groceries
    Payee: Jane

If Jane just paid for her groceries, say €40, then the repayment transaction would be -€40 (note the neg sign). This would mean that the net spend in your budget would be €60.

    Does that help?

Hi, I would split your suggestions into separate posts so that they can be voted for individually. Have a search through the existing ideas to see if others have made any of these suggestions before and vote for their idea.

You could create a special category or subcategory for this if you want?

I have a category called Miscellaneous. I would use this category for a transaction if I couldn't remember what it was for. And reassign it later when I figured out what it was.

You could even create a tag for this so help you remember to come back to this transaction later e.g. #Recategorise #Temporary #Forget

I would recommend having a separate account for cash. Mine is called 'Wallet'. When take money out from an ATM, in MoneyCoach I create a transfer from my current (checking) account to my 'Wallet' account. Lodging cash into my current account would be a transfer in Moneycoach also, but in the opposite direction to above.

In this way, you will be able to verify the balance of your real-world current (checking) account with MoneyCoach and verify that your cash balance is the same as what MoneyCoach says you should have in cash etc. Performing this check every few days reduces the risk of error.

And in any case, can't you use the tags to identify the method of transaction e.g. #card #cheque (#check in the US).

I think a recently used section for Person / Company would be great. However, instead of a sorting option for recently used, I would suggest having the last 5 Person/ Company names listed. Then under that, the full list of Person/companies in alphabetical order.

I agree with this request. I would be nice to logically categorise our accounts in a such a way as above.

Same as this request (I think). Moderator, is it possible to merge the two requests?

I fully support this request; it would make life a lot easier.

Though it might be tricky to make; considering, if you made an error and want to adjust one of the subcategories...
